Sheffield Environment Weeks

We can be proud of the hundreds of activities that make up Sheffield Environment Weeks, which has run for many years. They range from talks on a range of subjects, to projects like urban agriculture and wildlife conservation. To get involved see the timetable on the website. Officially it runs 27th April to 9th June but some events are on before this.

Chesterfield May Day 2019

Mon 6 May 2019, 10am-6pm, Chesterfield (south of Sheffield)

May Day is the traditional working class annual festival. A parade will assemble at 10.30am at Chesterfield Town Hall and march at 11am. A rally in New Square starts at 11.45, which will be full of campaigning stalls.

Speakers include:
John McDonnell MP
Nita Sanghera, Vice President of UCU (union)
Mark Serwotka, General Secretary of PCS (union)
Julia Felmanas, Partido Trabalhadores (Brazilian Workers Party)

There will be live music from Ireland Colliery Band, two samba bands, The Urban Gypsies, The Silverbirds Marching Display Band, Ajay Srivastav, and Ian Prowse & Friends.

Sheffield Against Fracking monthly meeting

Tue 7 May 2019, 7.30pm, Central United Reform Church, 60 Norfolk St. S1 2JB

Join the fight against fracking. Ineos, a company licensed for fracking, are targeting rural areas around Sheffield for drilling, among tens of thousands of wells, pipelines and compressor stations threatened across the UK, and supported politically by only the Conservative Party. All welcome to attend.
