MIGRATION MATTERS FESTIVAL

Tue 19 - Sat 23 Jun 2018 at multiple city centre venues

Britain’s largest festival about refugees and sanctuary returns for Refugee Week, bringing communities together through a soulful celebration of performance, food and culture. This rich programme will feature international theatre and dance, delicious iftars and global music evenings hosted by venues across the city to recognise the cultures that make Sheffield what it is and celebrate its status as a city of sanctuary.

Wheelies For Water

Fri 22 Jun 2018, meet 6pm outside Sheffield Town Hall

Two water treatment plants in Sheffield are now licensed to receive toxic water from Fracking (unconventional oil and gas extraction processes). Join this bike ride around the city centre and then out to Blackburn Meadows Water Treatment Works by 8pm (near Meadowhall) to spread the word to Sheffield residents - "No, not here and not anywhere!"

8pm onwards: Speakers from local Frack Free groups, Music and entertainment at the site. 9/10pm group ride back to city centre and to the pub.

Non-cyclists also welcome, meet at Blackburn Meadows at 8pm for the gathering and entertainment. The train, tram and bus are easily accessible, with around a 10 minute walk at the other end. Meadowhall South/Tinsley Tram stop, Purple or Yellow lines, every 12 — 20mins late into the night. Meadowhall Train Station has trains every 7 minutes. Useful buses: X78, every 15 minutes from Stand C1 at the Bus Station will take you to A6178.

A Sheffield People’s Assembly public meeting on rebuilding our public services including the NHS, education, housing and social services, which have been decimated by years of Tory government, as services are cut and handed over to private companies. How can we rebuild these once Tory rule is ended? Join the debate – all welcome
