Concert for Palestine

Palestinian singer, musician and broadcaster Reem Kelani returns to Sheffield with her stunning blend of entertainment and cultural enlightenment. With Bruno Heinen (piano) and The Commoners, choir against injustice.

Organised by Sheffield Palestinian Womens Scholarship Fund and Sheffield Palestine Cultural Exchange, in support of educational projects in Gaza. Ticket prices £16/£25 donation/£8 students and benefits concessions.

"Community-led Housing In Sheffield"

Leeds, Bristol and even London have started developing permanently affordable homes. Why not Sheffield? Dr Cristina Cerulli and Dr Tom Archer of Sheffield Hallam University share insights from ongoing research on Community Led Housing, with a panel of practitioners, researchers and policy makers.

Part of Understanding Society, the festival of social sciences, organised by the universities (Sheffield and Hallam), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. Free to attend, pre-booking a place is recommended.

"Making Space: Squatting, Trespass and Direct Housing Action"

An exhibition exploring grassroots campaigns involving squatting, trespass and direct action taken to addresses issues of housing policy, poverty, homelessness, inequality and democracy.

Led by Dr Sam Burgum, University of Sheffield. Part of Understanding Society, the festival of social sciences, organised by the universities (Sheffield and Hallam), funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. It runs all week after the launch on Monday 5th November, 7.00-8.30pm, and has late opening on Wednesday 7th November until 8pm. Open to all, no booking necessary.

The world première of a play by Kate Bowen. Cormack, Findlay and Davies are the elite. They are the first generation of female soldiers to serve in the British infantry in close combat roles, ever. They’ve aced physical tests only 5% of female soldiers can pass; they’ve been trained to shoot, fight and kill. They’ve proven their exceptional skill and discipline – while everyone around them questions whether they should even be allowed to serve. And now they’re about to join the action.

A co-production between Sheffield Theatres and Out of Joint. Suitable for ages 14+. Contains strong language and sexual references. Box Office Sheff 2496000.
